“Hariang” ~ Elemental Invocation & Sacred Space Setting (Beginning/Int Level)

Hariang is a Sanskrit word meaning to clarify and purify the space.

This choreography serves as a powerful clearing of the way—opening the stage, blessing the container, and consecrating the field for alchemical art and magic.

This is a balancing choreography, where for half of the piece we dance while balancing trays of elemental offerings, flowers, incense, light, moving with prayerful devotion and presence.

Through this ritual dance, we:

• Open the temple space with deep emotional presence and embodied intention

• Invoke elemental power through symbolic sequencing and ritual gestures

• Embody gorgeous temple dance postures, poses, mudras, and geometric alignments

• Explore the serpentine, earthy hipwork of bellydance

“Open the Gates” dives into the juicy heart of bellydance; core-centric fluidity, lyrical layering, serpentine flow, and vibrant group formations.
